Drawing I - Credits (2.5)                                           

This is an exploratory studio based course that strives to provide practice in the application of artistic processes and skills as they relate to drawing. Students learn the basics of line, contour, shading, texture, perspective, composition, and action drawing. Students will generate several original works and a personal portfolio. Students will also learn to critique, evaluate, and reflect upon their art work, as well as have discussions and critiques about each others' art work. 

Illustration  - Credits (2.5)    prerequisite (Drawing I)

This course introduces students to a more personal and professional level of illustration problem solving and conceptualization through drawing, painting, and source gathering processes applied to art. Students will expand their drawing and painting abilities through a variety of mediums.  Emphasis will be placed upon each student’s individual growth, creative expression, and production of a variety of illustrations. Students will continue to expand their analysis and critique vocabulary through regular reflections and evaluations of student and master art work.  The class will culminate with a portfolio of no less than three portfolio pieces.
